"Not your normal Bed and Breakfast"

"What a perfect stopover!

Due to the short notice of my departure, all the traditional half-way stayover points on the N1 were either full or massively overpriced (and also very difficult to get hold of on the internet).

Not having a map of De Aar, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to locate the lodge, but my concerns were misplaced, as the lodge was well signposted, and as I was to find out later, the residents of De Aar are extremely friendly, and patiently tolerated my attempts at communicating in broken Afrikaans, and would have got me to the lodge eventually.

The lodge itself was quite perfect for my needs. Neat, spotlessly clean and very well managed by super friendly staff, whose suggested shortcut back to the N1 saved me many unnecessary kilometres of travelling.

The De Herberg Lodge provided more than just the good night's sleep I was looking for. It opened my eyes to the natural friendliness of people, and gave me an opportunity for a little adventure. Delightful.

"As I stayed at De Herberg due to business in the town, the host bent over backwards to please me as I required desks in my room for plans and computer/printer.

Although' I did not have breakfast, the evening meals were wholesome and tasty and also reasonably priced. Even on Saturday & Sunday when they do not supply meals, an evening plate of food was supplied.

The site and rooms are clean and tidy and I would return if ever I have the opportunity to be in De Aar again.

Please note that I have stayed in dozens of guest houses in the Northern & Western Cape due to my business and feel that this place rates three to four stars."
