The stoep is one of its many delights as you can just "chill" and watch the world and his wife go by. We were very amused at who pitched up and in what transport at the garage opposite.
Have stayed in winter and summer and both were equally charming. The hostess was a lovely, energetic lady who was perfect for the job; the food was Karoo in the best possible way. (My husband had the lamb chops two nights in a row) It was peaceful and yet the hotel was practically full. We loved the stoep around the perimeter of the rooms in the inner courtyard and the beckoning swimming pool in these peaceful surroundings.
It very much reminded us of our delightful childhood holidays spent with family in those lovely old unspoilt hostelries that South Africa specialised in during the 1960's and yet which today are hard to find. Keep doing what you do so well Royal Hotel.
