I would recommend this place to accommodate a large family.

The deck was the best as we had spent the entire night outside, taking in the great view of the Vaal and the surrounding mountains. The peace and quite place made our stay at Kruisbessie the most memorable.

Thank you to Hesme and family and i hope to visit with my family just to relax etc.

My five-year-old was in tears when we told her on Sunday morning that we had to go home. Her 'Why can't we stay until Christmas?' was a really difficult question to answer.

The rest of the farm offers great walks, and I could kick myself that I did not take my fishing rod with as we saw plenty of fish kicking their tails out of the Vaal river. The only criticism on the weekend was that initially there was only 2 toilet roles left for 14 people and the rubbish bin outside was full on arrival. We noted this to the owner GP Schoeman, and this was sorted out immediately. I would definitely recommend this for anybody seeking a great time out in the bush. "

We enjoyed the lapa as well as we love the bush and the atmosphere. The lapa have such a calming atmosphere with the great view of the river and the beautiful sound of the bird and nature.

"We were fortunate enough to find the Kollegrus house available for a weekend at Schoemanshof, a quaint little house with a nostalgic resemblance to the late 1800's, built between tall thorn trees and neatly trimmed lawn overlooking the Vaal River. The house has a fully equipped kitchen with all the utensils you need to prepare a meal or braai including a fridge, microwave and stove plate. A pleasant surprise for us, as we are so used to lugging everything but the kitchen sink along with us. The beds were very comfortable - a winner when you sleep away from home.
We spent the evenings down at the private Lapa (also fitted with sink, fridge and electricity), braaing and listening to the river gurgling over the rocks below and the night sounds. The setting brought such calm to our busy lives. We enjoyed the outdoor shower at the Lapa, with its hot running water and the absolute privacy with no one around within earshot - Eden re-discovered.

If you are looking for the perfect romantic getaway for you and your significant other, then look no further. GP and Helen have thought of everything. We have listed Schoemanshof as a favourite on our list."
