The view over the river is amazing, the wildlife around is stunning beautiful birds and bucks (weren't lucky enough to see the otter but next time :-)) waking up to the chirping birds, flowing river and rolling mist was so relaxing and at night the fire place just tops off the amazing day had of meandering.

Rooms are beautiful, neat and clean - hosts are accommodating and thoughtful.

Loved the fact that the facilities do not include television, a slight concern to start off with. We quickly got used to the quietude and peaceful surroundings. Both of us live hectic lives so to sit back and do nothing was amazing. The kitchen is fully equipped and we often made breakfast and dinner but enjoyed lunch along the Meander. We received personal service from the owners that was much appreciated. The cleaning team is friendly and all round the facilities bode well for a happy and enjoyable stay. We still had access to our laptops and internet so could check up on news whenever we wanted to. We saw deer the very first day we arrived! We went on a walk down to the river to try and spot otters but sadly they were nowhere to be seen. The braai facility is wonderful - nowhere in South Africa, can one braai on a balcony overlooking the beautiful Lions River gushing by and the view is just breathtaking and the birdlife magnificent. Swallows were building nests under the thatch almost dive-bombing my husband - we had an interesting stay. The only suggestion I can make is that guests take along binoculars. The flowers along the mountain are exquisite and one will only be able to view them up close with binoculars unless u take a "meander" down the river. We were sad to leave and can strongly recommend Otters Den to those who want peace and quiet and a wonderful environmental experience! "
