"My husband and I needed to take a moment out of our busy lives and we found a sanctuary.
The room was perfect, with views of the sea and we fell asleep with the sound of the waves crashing against the shoreline. Of priority to us is how we are received at an establishment. The welcoming email from the owner and the capable Yoliswa ensured that we felt at home from the start. We had everything we needed at our disposal.
Breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented. Thanks Yoliswa you are a star. We will be back.

"We began our stay in the Master Suite which is large enough, allows for leisurely views of the ocean from the well positioned bathtub and shower, charming and enjoyable.

In our last night we transferred to the Cape View room-- which after staying in the Master Suite felt much smaller but adequate.

Very well located for walks through Kalk Bay and proximity to beaches and lovely surrounds, pleasant and accommodating staff, beautiful views made for a wonderful holiday."

The lady who helped prepare/organize our delicious breakfast and all of our needs, is very goodhearted. We will remember her as well as Nadheem.

A unique fault is that there were no baboons in view; Nadheem would be a special baboon fighter. With this, the whole package would reach perfection."

"I was a bit apprehensive about our journey to South Africa, but our stay at the Blue on Blue was the ideal way to put me at ease at start our two week trip. Before we left the States, we had several email exchanges with Tom who answered all of our questions and assisted us with such things as arranging a ride from the airport to getting us advanced tickets for our Robben Island tour. Once there, it was clear from the first enthusiastic greeting from Nadeem Davids that our stay was going to be terrific, and we surely were not disappointed. Nadeem's help ranged from cooking fabulous breakfasts to helping us when we picked up the rental car. He not only gave us advice for what to see but came with us on two of our day trips. He has a wealth of knowledge and his enthusiasm and love for his country are contagious. To quote Nadeem, we felt that we arrived as guests and left as friends. In addition, the location of the B&B is lovely and well-suited for trips to Cape Town. The room was private, comfortable, roomy, and spotless and the common area allowed for the opportunity to meet with and talk with other guests. In summary, I would highly recommend the Blue on Blue!!"

"Nadeem was fantastic. Very friendly and his breakfast buffets are superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blue-On-Blue and can only recommend it. It is ideal for St.James station and within easy driving of either the city (25 mins) or Cape Point. We took the train most evenings into Kalk Bay (1 stop) for dinner and walked home (15 mins stroll) on the well lit and well patrolled main street around 10pm.

Additional info, as we prefer a twin room, we stayed in Curries Corner, which has private facilities, not en-suite; At first we were slightly hesitant, but needn't have worried as the separate WC and bathroom are directly across a corridor shared with only one of the other rooms from the CC bedroom."

We would have preferred to have a tea tray in our rooms though as one feels like tea in the early morning and one has to go downstairs before dressing.
Otherwise this spotless establishment is very comfortable and worth visiting."

"On a recent trip to Cape Town, we had heard of a B&B outside of Cape Town called Blue on Blue. As this was our first trip to South Africa, we booked two of their three rooms on faith. We were so happy that we took that leap of faith because this B&B was simply fantastic. Upon arrival we were met by the most wonderful hostess who made us feel like we were all VIP's. She was so helpful and made sure our accommodations were satisfactory. The rooms were gorgeous and well furnished. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms had that cozy down to earth comfortable feeling. The views outside our windows were of the Indian Ocean and with the windows open, we would go to sleep at night to the sounds of the surf. Breakfast was first class each morning of our three day stay. My wife and I are already talking about returning one day and staying for much longer at the Blue on Blue."

Nadeem is very experienced as a tour guide and through the various art projects he is also involved with supporting local artists. The breakfast is very good and provides a solid base for the day! The bedrooms are clean and there is a lot of literature to study if that is want you are interested in. The location at the southern shore of Cape Town makes it a good location especially if you have a car. You do not even have to go to Hermanus for whale watching."

"For the Best on Blue and Blue you have to read at the end of the text ->

The Blue and Blue is situated very nicely at St. James, which is a 20 Minutes drive from Cape Town Centre (3 minutes walk to the train station with connection to Cape Town Centre, according to other guests the train is safe to use, as it has guards on it). Each room has an exceptional sea view, where you can watch wales having fun in the false bay. Additionally there is a contemporary african craft decorated living room and a terrace with a couch you do not want to miss after a day, as you can watch wales or just listen to the sea while relaxing there. In the Back of the house you find a small garden, breakfast is served in a dining room. For a small fee you can use the washing and drying machine and internet. There is no TV in the room, but for those who cannot resist, there is a small TV room with quite a collection of DVDs. Parking is possible onsite.
The B&B is very clean, and the breakfast is plentiful and diverse. You can even ask for something and you get it on the next morning, as new food (especially bread and croissants - excellent bakery) is bought on a daily base. It is very quiet there, you will hardly hear the costal road - well, quiet except you feel disturbed by waves clashing on the coast.
All in all you will feel immediate at rest as the African sun, wind and sea air refreshes you. We stayed there for more than a week although we had planned for only 4 nights.

A small natural sea swimming pool awaits you within a 10 min. walk, and two restaurants are nearby (both quite good and affordable, Octopus I recommend because they have quite a rare selection of single malts). A bit further away ~20 min. walk there is St. James with some supermarkets and Calk Bay with a lot of nice shops with antiques and more restaurants.
St. James is an exceptional starting point for tours to Cape of Good Hope, into the winelands and to Cape Town Centre (Waterfront, Table Mountain etc.). I lived also at Greenmarket Square in Downtown for one week and I must say I was happy each day to leave the city drive back to quiet and peaceful St. James.

But now to the best on Blue on Blue. It is not only a very nice house, it has something which is quite rare in our times. It has hospitality and warmth in it. This is due to the presence of the manager Nadeem who will give you a V.I.P. treatment as a guest. Not only in terms of comfort, but also in terms of interesting talk, joking, helping out etc. Nadeem is a tourist guide and can give you a wide range of tips where to go, to eat, to stay. Not only in Cape Town, but all along the winelands, garden route and whole South Africa. We planned our whole garden rout tour with him. He also offers guided tours to Cape Town, Boo Kaap, Cape of Good Hope, Winelands, Stellenbosch etc. If you plan a tour with him you will have great fun and insight as he drives you with his VW-bus.

The last thing we wanted to mention is the reason why we chose this B&B at first hand. It is connected to quite a number of social projects. We tried to find more accommodation, where you know that your money has something to do with local development and social projects. But unfortunately we found nearly nothing in South Africa except the usual business tourism, where people earn money which already have quite some. Blue on Blue is an exception. Some of your money will go to projects like the art aids art or the Philani Project and some others. Ask Nadeem for more details. Don't get me wrong, you can perfectly relax in Blue on Blue, Nadeem will not bother you with something unless you show some interest in it. Of course most of the decoration in Blue on Blue is crafted in social projects. But if you show interest he can show you the other side of South Africa, which we think is important to see. He can make a township tour with you, where you can visit the social projects, see how people live there etc. and he can tell you quite some stories from his personal life and from friends, which will give you some insight into the South African society before and after 1994. The garden route was very impressing for us, but as a lifetime experience I will take home these days, where we met with all those warm and hospitable South Africans.

All in all we would always return to this B&B, I would say it was one, if not the best accommodation we ever had in our lives, maybe not in terms of luxury, but in terms of personality, hospitality and guest friendship.

Thanks Blue on Blue, thanks Nadeem."

What stands out about this place is it's friendly manager, Nadeem Davids, who will really try his best to help you out with what you need during your stay.
The place is cozy, clean, but they don't make your bed every day during your stay there.

The breakfast is good, and if you want a cooked egg breakfast, Nadeem will make it fresh every morning.

There are a few restaurants within walking distance, and if you rent a car, it's quite an ideal place to do your cape Peninsula tour and the winery tour. It's also only about 30 min to the airport and the Capetown city.

This is certainly a value for money place."

"The description on the website sold Blue On Blue to us, & it ticked all our boxes, so we took the risk & booked the whole 7 nights of our stay there.

Our host Nadeem Davids gave excellent directions for our hire car journey from the airport - his concern for our safety was much appreciated, since our 3 hours delayed flight meant we travelled through Capetown at 11pm. He still had a meal waiting for us.

The house was superb & the views of the ocean fantastic (he even arranged for the whales to entertain us!).

The fittings were reliable, the ensuite bathroom spotless, ample provision of towels & extra bedding if needed. The antique 4-poster bed in the Master bedroom was fascinating & comfortable.

Breakfast was more than ample, & nothing was too much trouble for Nadeem. Satellite TV room was a bonus. Security of the house & our hire car was reassuring.

We were also impressed with Nadeem's (& the owner's) commitment to help the townships' poor, partly through a proportion of the fees received, by means of the encouragement of art & craft projects. As we had just spent 2 weeks in Jo'burg working at an orphanage & giving support to a craft project being set up in a township to help orphaned families there, Nadeem's involvement enabled us to feel we were continuing our compassion work, not just being Western tourists.

We were delighted to accompany him on a visit to some of the projects he is involved in. But he also made sure we did get a good rest & an enjoyable holiday.

This is our best-ever B&B experience, & 5 stars does not seem enough to give Blue On Blue.

We will definitely go there again if visiting South Africa."
