"Beautiful guest house with gorgeous breakfast and stunning antiques and grounds. Felt like staying in your dream house and not hotel like at all. Had a super massage in-room. No restaurant but you get afternoon tea and can order a cheese platter if you're staying in (we have a baby so we tended to). Cakes are excellent! White room was OK but a little worn, perhaps they gave us this one as we had a child. Carpet was v dirty and needed a decent clean. Ask for the 4 poster room off the main room in the house. Amazing view of table mountain. Lovely hummingbirds and gorgeous dogs!"

"Exceptional estate wines, delicious breakfast, stunning decor and antiques. All in all, a romantic and exclusive hotel. "

"I had the most amazing stay at Hawksmoor House this week. Arriving on a sunny, cold winters day at this beautiful country house filled with the scent of freshly baked cookies (which I enjoyed with a cup of tea in front of the fireplace!) has been a fabulous treat! My room was the largest of them all (I was allowed a little peak into the others too). It was the white room, which has its own fireplace and underfloor heating and it just felt so cosy. The staff has been fantastic and I really enjoyed the company of the three lively hunting dogs who would follow me everywhere. I loved it so much, I will be going back with my friends in August!"

"Enjoyed the farm, nice and peaceful and relaxing, lots of info from the management and staff, there wine is great and the dinner was severed on front of the fire with rose petal's spread on the table and the local food was very tasty and in keeping with the place. The plus points for me are no TV or radio nor papers, nice and warm with underfloor heating and a gas fire in the room. I would like some comfortable chairs in the bedroom for reading, I know other rooms did have but not ours.

Would stay again!! "

Hawksmoor was the ideal place, restful, immaculate, tasteful and warm. Our arrival to a warm fire and coffee served by a friendly Dolly set the scene for 24 hours of gracious hospitality, We shall be back

"I have rarely been to anywhere more beautiful than the Hawksmoor House. The House was every bit as beautiful as the pictures, and Maike, Cosmo and Max were wonderful. I would love to see it in every season of the year!"

We will definitely return to enjoy the pool and the view of Table Mountain, in summer :)"

"We spent 5 nights at Hawksmoor in February. My wife and I travel a great deal, both on business and for pleasure, and we have stayed in many fine large and boutique hotels in Asia, Europe and US. It is therefore saying something when we say that we had a better stay at Hawksmoor than in any of those. The cape dutch house is wonderfully restored, filled with antiques and with only 4 rooms you feel as if you are house guests staying in a beautiful country house, rather than paying customers. The rooms are large and lovely, and the bathrooms all completely modernised. It is set in the grounds of the vineyard, and is fantastically relaxing after the long flight we had from the UK. The manager Maike made us feel like old friends, while being incredibly organised about booking meals, spas, etc around Stellenbosch.

I can only imagine that Hawksmoor will become very popular, so book now while it is still a secret!"

The hostess, staff and dogs make this one of the best 'served' guest houses I've ever stayed at. You are allowed to come and go as you please and when you are there, they carry you on their hands. We were lucky to have sunny weather the entire time, but even on rainy days, walking through the rustic manor house, viewing the antiques, reading or just sitting, sipping tea will keep you entertained for hours. No need to visit the other winefarms - Hawksmoor's own wines are just as enjoyable. Absolutely Fantastic!!! Thanks to Maike, Jon and the Staff."

"We loved it here! Incredibly pretty and peaceful place. We relaxed from the moment we entered the gate and were welcomed by the two friendly hunting dogs. The early check-in was much appreciated as we arrived straight from the airport and were exhausted after a long flight from London. The room was ready and breakfast was waiting for us on the terrace. Brilliant service. Loved the wild gardens and the huge zen-style pond. Very stylish inside decor. Had a great massage (by Linda?), which was organised within 2 hours. We were there during the grape harvest, which was quite an experience for city folks like us. Let's just hope Lonely Planet doesn't pick up on this magic little place anytime soon..."

"Cape Winelands"

(Belgium) Mr Rodger

"A very convenient location, for Cape Town and Airport on the edge of the Winelands - 15km from Stellenbosch. Very comfortable, classy furnishings and quiet. Breakfast served on a terrace overlooking the garden and Table Mountain in the distance. Very reasonable price for the quality."

"Not only is Hawksmoor House most likely to be one of the most beautiful and typical Cape Dutch houses you'll find in the Stellenbosch area, it is also most likely to be one of the most welcoming, warm and lovely places you'll be staying the night. Hostess Maike and her "girls" make you feel very welcome and help with reservations and tips of all kind besides putting an excellent breakfast on the table. The rooms are without doubt one of the best and most authentic you'll ever find in a B&B; spacious, spotless and oozing antique. What made our hearts beat fastest in the end? The fact that hostess Maike trains and educates the girls who work at Hawksmoor House and by doing so, paving the roads for a better future for them. Great place with good vibes!"

The house is recently restored, but it has been done beautifully and the old features are still there. They have four rooms all differently furnished, with beautiful bathrooms.
Although the weather was not so very good, I can see my self sitting on the porch or taking a swim in the pool. Now we had to settle with a nice glass of wine in front of the fire place (not bad at all!)"
