The road is safer and quieter.The best thing about the journey is the overnight stay at the Transkaroo Country Lodge.This owner run establishment is like a rose in the desert. It is attractive,well organised and clean. There is a lovely cool swimming pool to wash off the travel dust and I recommend one of their specialty gins in the Mediterranean style indoor courtyard. The prize of your stay will be the magnificent buffet supper served in the elegant dining room. It is not cheap but more than worth it as the freshly cooked delicious fare will delight both vegetarians and meat lovers. Don't forget to leave room for the puddings. The staff are friendly and obliging and your car is guarded in a lock up facility next to the Hotel. "

Coming from Cape Town to Clarens overnight at the Lodge . The place is nice, staff friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable with modern bathrooms . Car was safe in a garage behind a locked gate. Dinner at the restaurant was professional and pleasant."

Breakfast is very good as well if you like cooked breakfast - we prefer continental breakfast which was not available: no fruits, no fruit juice, no boiled eggs, no toast, etc. - we think they should consider to put this on their breakfast menu as well.

Establishment's Response

I would like to answer this guest's review. We are currently looking at all these problem areas. However, I think Mr. Jagau might have misunderstood in connection with our breakfast.

We serve a selection from a menu, after much consideration. Because we live in a remote area, the deliveries are not reliable. We cannot make promises we cannot keep, and therefore do not serve fruit.

We have toast, fruit juice and boiled eggs, on request. I apologize for this misunderstanding.
