For the more adventurous bush lovers, overnight walking safaris are not to be missed. Setting out in the afternoon on foot, life in the bush slows down and senses are sharpened. A night spent, deep in the bush, tucked under the trees in a tented campsite looked after by Motswari’s trained guides, is the authentic way to appreciate Africa.

Supporting the Big Five are several species of wildlife, including cheetah and wild dogs and herbivores from the antelope and gazelle family. There are a variety of nocturnal animals which include hyena, honey-badger, civet, the bush-baby and owls. The avian population is unrivalled for the avid birdwatcher, with well over 350 different species to be spotted year-round.

The drive from Johannesburg takes about six hours, and Motswari can be easily reached by road from Durban or Phalaborwa.

"A pleasant experience overall - the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our guides Godfrey and Petros were excellent - knowledgable and passionate about the bush. I think this is what the made the experience so great.

The drives were very good - well organised. We were in a jeep with six people which was the optimum number. I would have been disappointed to have been in a jeep of any more than that as it would not have felt as comfortable."
