The main room was light, airy and large. The ammenities on the same level where more than adequate and although there was no kitchen sink to wash dishes, this was taken care of on a daily basis by the invisible fairy who also serviced the rooms! The beach is only a whisper away and the views in the whole area were breath-taking. Well, Anchor's Rest lived up to all its promises! My first impression was during the communication phase, when the host was polite and helpful in her replies. The establishment has a cosy feel and what impressed me most, was the fresh, clean and very well decorated unit. The tranquil garden setting invites you outdoors to maximise your overall experience, while the birds are the only background 'noise'. It was all I had hoped it would be. The surrounding/complementary areas such as the pool area and garden were well-maintained. A few of the little complementary items were much appreciated! All-in-all, my stay at this beautiful accommodation has contributed to some wonderful memories. I had a chance to rest my anchor and now I am energised to go full steam ahead!

The only complaint we had was it did get a little chilly in the room at night, although with the extra blankets they supplied we stayed warm enough. "After an unusually trying period of coping with low business volumes, demanding relationship challenges and the like, my partner and I recently escaped to Anchor's Rest for a weekend away.
It's situation near the new harbour allowed us to wander along sea-side paths, observe harbour activity, bask in the sun, and was close enough to Hermanus Centre to enable us to take in the flea market and enjoy leisurely book browsing. Most of our time was spent at Anchor's Rest however. Here the reception, payment and other services were prompt and attentive but not intrusive. The swimming pool and garden surrounds are quiet and inviting, and the facility that we were given was very private, safe, clean, spacious, light and airy.
When braaing in our private courtyard we found that the electric rock-barbecue was slow and there were no braai tongs in the kitchenette - our only mini-complaint.
All in all this was a place where we unexpectedly discovered great comfort, a place that lent itself to our need for privacy and to de-stress and refresh, a place to enjoy the charm of Hermanus yet away from the bustling crowd.
