The hostess was so kind and welcomed us plus also made us feel at home from the moment we arrived on Friday night.

The hostess and her husband gave us some guidelines on where to go for some touring and entertainment as.Even though the weather was not friendly,we really had an amzing time and enjoyed ourselves. We are actually planning our second trip and to stay at Hide-Away Guest House.

It was a short stay and we thank Sally for her hospitality."

"This is definitely one of the nicest places I stayed during my trip along the Garden Route. I booked a standard room but got upgraded to a room with shared balcony and lagoon view, which is stunning, especially at sunset. The house and rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with all comforts like tv or minibar. Hosts are very friendly and make you feel really welcome. There also is a swimming pool and private parking. The guest house is located off the N2 into Knysna, when I was there (November 2009) there were a lot of road works going on in and around Knysna, including in front of the guest house, but all this didn't pose problem since it is somewhat hidden behind trees."

The warm personal welcome and coffee on the pool deck with the owners, the private breakfast served on the verandah whilst overlooking the Knysna lagoon and the heads are stunning. The rooms are very comfortable with fully stocked bar fridge and all. The decor is superb and rooms etc. well maintained. The owners have an excellent knowledge of Knysna, what to see, where to eat, where to relax, etc."

On arrival our hosts greeted us in the car park and then spent time with us asking us about our journey and informing us on things to do in and around Knysna. This was a really nice touch. Our room was clean with great views over the lagoon. The only fault with Hide-Away was the noise from the N2 (approx 200 yds down the hill). This was only heard when the balcony doors were open so is only a minor grumble. "

"Great welcome and good location. We had an excellent room with a lovely view of the lagoon. Colleen and Cecil were a mine of useful information which greatly enhanced our stay. Our only concern was the walk back from a restaurant on the Waterfront after dark; we had been told it would be completely safe but we felt uneasy when a shadowy figure appeared from the roadside. He did not actually threaten us though."

They were excellent hosts. Breakfast served on our bedroom balcony was a real bonus! Unfortunately we were only there for one night - nowhere near long enough. The only downside is the noise of traffic from the road below. "

"Our three-night stay at the Hide-Away was fabulous. Colleen and Cecil are charming and knowledgeable, striking a good balance between friendliness and respect for our privacy. We had the two executive rooms for our family of 5 (3 children). The rooms were gorgeous -- huge and very very comfortable. Each had its own lovely en-suite bathroom with shower. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the view of the lagoon quite spectacular. The location was perfect for us since we used Knysna as a base for day-trips and didn't feel the need to be right on the waterfront (which was about a ten minute walk from the guest house). We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again."

"As a widow travelling down to Cape Town with two small children the trip had to be broken up with stop overs. Travelling from East London we opted to stop over in Knysna. I am very pleased to have selected the Hide-Away Guest House. Cecil & Colleen Harding were the perfect hosts, serving us an excellent breakfast in the mornings. They both accommodated my young very energetic children with a smile and acceptance.

The room and bathroom was very comfortable and had everything on hand that one needed - an absolute 5 star treatment all way round.

I will most definitely stay at the Hide-Away Guest House again in the future."

"So Comfortable"

"We were greeted warmly by Coleen and Cecil and made to feel welcome. Our rooms were on the second level with a great view of the lagoon, which we enjoyed each evening sitting on the deck with a glass of wine.

Their breakfast....a wonderful way to start our day!

"We were made very welcome by the owners- a briefing on the area, which was combined with much needed refreshment. They wanted us to enjoy the area and its amenities and nothing was too much trouble, booking us into a boat trip and a restaurant.

The room was large and overlooked the estuary. It was very comfortable with a mini-bar and tea/coffee facilities. A balcony had table and chairs at which we took breakfast and enjoyed nice views each morning. We needed some laundry doing, which was attended to efficiently.

Plenty of restaurants were available at the Harbour complex, which was a 15 minute safe stroll. The owner arranged for us to visit one restaurant further away, which provided a free pickup and drop-off at the Guest House. There are boat trips and beach walks galore, but the Steam Train was not running at the current time due to landslip.

The lodge has a refreshing, small swimming pool and deck. It was closer to the main road than we expected, but the noise didn't bother us unduly.

Hide-away was the only spot in Knysna on the website with that feature. The response from the guest house was equally speedy. Hide-Away Guest House was a spoil for us. From the view to our knowledgeable and hospitable hosts. Our room was exceptionally comfortable topped with electric blankets. The key for us was the provision made for our little boy Thomas - 7 months old. Our room was upgraded without extra charge to one with a bath so that our little chap could be bathed and a camp cot was provided and he even had a sitter while we enjoyed breakfast."

"Very friendly and professional. Nice rooms with good beds and tasteful breakfast. Very clean rooms and high quality standard. Small but very clean pool. Nice view from our balcony.
Unfortunately a lot of noise from the nearby N2.

"I am a motorcyclist who travel the country and like to relax after a day on the road. From Cape Town we traveled to Knysna, using all the back roads and after 10 hours and 700Km we eventually stopped at the Hide-Away Guest House. What a lovely reception!
The owner greeted us in the parking area and assisted us with the luggage. Once on the porch, next to a lovely clean pool he offered us something to drink. Before the drinks arrived we each got a cold facecloth to get the heat and sweat off our faces and hands. He left us to enjoy our drinks and then showed us to the rooms. Lovely, spacious and comfortable. A bar fridge, fully stocked, made a trip to town unnecessary. After he recommended a few good restaurants in the area we decided on a barbecue at the Guest House. Everything was ready. Firewood, plates, cutlery etc.

How much more can you ask. Good friends, a fire, something to drink, a lovely view over the lagoon and natures own music."

Cecil and Collen were charming and attentive hosts.

Large room, well furnished, comfortable big bed, extra pillows and blankets, complementary tea and coffee, mini bar: large en-suite bathroom with bath robes provided.

Lovely breakfast taken on verandah outside room with view over lagoon. Welcome glass of sparkling wine. We thoroughtly enjoyed being there.

All SA accomodation was excellent from a cottage for 2 in Addo, to above, to the Whaewatchers Inn in Witsand and The Plumwood Inn in Froenshhook.
