Fountain Baths Guest Cottages is a friendly place. We had a very nice room in the main house, colonial style with a nice terrace. There is a fully equipped kitchen, which we did not use. Based on a tip from the owner we had a wonderful dinner in town (at Josephine's). The breakfast in the morning was nice and abundant.

The cottages are settled in serene splendour at the base of the mountains amongst lavish vegetation and a tenderly cared for garden of serenity. Close to all amenities, Fountain Baths is well located. The rooms are quaint and well equipped and Sue and her staff go out of their way to accommodate any special requests."

"A calm and charming former bathing house, on the edge of Barberton center. Within walking distance of several good (local) restaurants. Nicely decorated and spacious rooms, fully equipped with little kitchen and bathroom. There is a rather little swimming pool and a jacuzzi (both cold water). Use of a secured parking for the car (even if you checked out and not yet left). Good moderate breakfast. Friendly owner.
If you visit the museum, you can find a picture of the place in former glory ! "

If I return to the area, which I hope to do, I would certainly stay there again."

"I had a wonderful time during my stay on Saturday 23 January 2010 at Fountain Baths Guest Cottages. Arrived there in the sweltering heat, but when I went into my room it was cool and decorated in crisp blue and white decor. I went for a swim in the pool and let my mind wander back to the early days of Barberton when this was the communal pool. I love history and the owner Sue Hicks, shared some interesting detail with me which I enjoyed.

From your window you have breathtaking views of the lush gardens with the mountains forming a back drop.

The breakfast served on Sunday morning was excellent and I can recommend Fountain Baths to anybody wanting to break away. Keep up the standards and well done!"

"Highly recommended"

(South Africa) Mrs Wilson

"A lovely setting with beautiful gardens - saw a family of porcupines on hill side backing onto the garden in the evening. The cottages were very comfortable and well furnished, with one in particular (sleeping 3 with a double and a single room) as it was beautifully furnished with lovely period features and furniture, very comfy bed and lovely bathroom with roll top bath. Well run with friendly, helpful service and lovely breakfast. We would definitely recommend."

The charming and elegantly furnished cottages nestle against a huge mountain and the atmosphere is homely and welcoming. Our stay was pleasurable and comfortable. We would not hesitate to book at Fountain Baths again when we visit the area."

"We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this guest house. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. The self catering facilities were adequate to make simple meals. The garden was definitely the highlight - the fact that the garden backs onto the mountain gives a fantastic sense of space and greenery. The garden has a number of "areas" to sit in making it possible to enjoy some privacy even if other guests are also outside. Our children really enjoyed it too. The historic aspect to the establishment also appeals and the owner has a good collection of period photos tracing the history of the baths, and of Barberton. It is a short walk into the centre - it was nice to be able to explore the pretty town on foot rather than driving everywhere. I would definitely recommend it to others as a good weekend break, especially as there is a lot to do in and around Barberton itself."

"Surprising environment"

"Arrive in Barberton and finding the Fountain Baths Guest Cottages is like arriving at home. The location is very near the centre of the town but at the same time in the complete rest and green. The superb view of the mountain is as unique as the placing of the cottages in the garden, private and rural at the same time. The cottage was clean and pleasant. The hostess was very friendly. No fruit at breakfast was the only remark."

"Great Accommodation"

(South Africa) Mr Walker

"The pictures on the internet do not do this guest house any justice. The rooms were amazing, the garden literally backs onto the mountain. The pool is so great you have to tear yourself away. Sue was great as was her cooking. If you want to relax, this is the place. "

"What a pleasure!"

(South Africa) Mrs Venter

"The cottage was charming, clean and fully equipped situated in a beautiful garden where we could listen to the sounds of bushbabies at night. It was very peaceful.
Sue provided us with a very tasty breakfast in the morning.
All in all a wonderful experience. We will definitely come back."

"Review Fountain Bath"

(Netherlands) Mr Smits

"Our cottage was the most luxurious of all the lodges we stayed in. The self-catering was complete. The cottage had a large veranda, a nice swimming pool. Breakfast perfect!"
