The room was adequate but a little bit on the small side we were in a corner room. The bedding was clean but tired as was the room. We ate at the restaurant and the food was good as well as the service from all of the staff from check in to the bar.

I am sorry you were not totally happy and felt the room was a bit small and tired. We trust that our guests book the room to suite their needs. It was a very welcome retreat after the long journey driving from Pretoria on our way to Cape Town. The place was easy to find, and check in went smoothly. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our overnight stay was comfy. Beds were comfortable, the room were clean, linen crisp and clean. The night we stayed over was really cold, and IC in the one bedroom with 3 single beds we booked, was fairly old and not really effective in keeping the temperature in the room warm. The water in the pool was icy cold, I could not really use it Ð too cold. The pool needs upkeep to repair the lining, but it was sparkling clean. It could use some solar panel heating. The host and people at the restaurant and bar were friendly. Food served at the restaurant was tasty. I ordered the lamb chops, one person in our party the chicken salad and other two ordered hamburgers and fries. Portions was satisfying, the service was a bit lay back. DŽcor in the common areas and restaurant remind of the 80Õs. Comfortable but a little outdated. DŽcor in the rooms were updated and is more modern. A lovely place to spend the night. Good value."

It was difficult finding a place to stay without a time frame to check in. We could travel in our own time without a rush. We were referred to the lodge by my parents who had an overnight stay at the lodge 48 years ago. They were so delighted that we enjoyed our stay as much as they did many, many moons ago and that everything has improved the way it did.
