Our daughter could only eat a little bit of sweet potato, for which we were charged R70!! As we know a buffet, you have a choice of various foods and all food are normally included in the buffet price. Then there was a choice of desert, which was either malva pudding with custard or ice cream with chocolate sauce, for which we were charged additionally, but not informed of initially.) Eating the buffet dinner seemed to be a rip-off."

The lady at the reception completed the check-in process and then gave me directions to another property called Apperklas. I made my booking based on pictures and reviews of Donkin Country House. And I was very disappointed that without explanation, discussion or notification I was actually directed to another property. I made a booking for 3 adults and the Donkin pictures all showed rooms with full sized beds, instead, the property I was directed to was clearly for 2 adults and 2 children. The bed was a very uncomfortable pull out couch. I find the behaviour of the establishment very underhand and sneaky and I would advise any future patrons clarify what they are actually getting when they book at Donkin. Apperklas was clean, had a mini-kitchen with microwave and secure off street parking."
