The rooms are clean and well kept and the staff is very helpful especially during breakfast which is excellent and comprehensive. We found the beds comfy, too.

One very minor gripe was that the plumbing is a bit cranky and it can wheeze and grumble depending, no doubt, on whether neighbouring rooms are running or draining water. We did not find this too intrusive, though.

Also, our room did not have a television (not that we missed it at all, in fact we preferred it that way) which may cause some people concern. There is a television in a communal area (along with a fridge) for the upstairs rooms.

The rates were quite reasonable in comparison with what some venues in Franschhoek demand. The entire experience was pretty much standard (though slightly up-market) B&B: English breakfast, complimentary sherry, neat and well equipped bathrooms, comfortable bed.

We would visit La Fontaine again."

The Guest House is very well located just off the main street. We stayed in the annex which has its own secure parking, communal kitchen and dining room. The room was lovely with a huge, very comfortable bed and french windows leading to the verandah and well cared for gardens. The bathroom was amazing! A free-standing bath in front of a lovely window, a "wet room" type shower, beautiful vanity stand with gorgeous toiletries, pool towels and an armchair!

The pool is very good and clean with sun loungers available. Breakfast is taken on the terrace underneath a grapevine canopy. The breakfast was a very good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, fresh Franschhoek salmon trout, cheese and cold meats. Cooked breakfast was also available.

The owner was very friendly and helpful, giving advice on the area and offering information.

The jewel is not only superb accommodation, and you can have a super buffet breakfast but they also offer cooked should you fancy that on any day. Finally the Guest House is in the centre of the town. So easy for everything.

I am so pleased I moved from my 5 star luxury Hotel before I left the UK and found La Fontaine. My friends were so impressed by the building, fixtures and fittings and the excellent customer service.

Franschheok is superb and this accommodation and service is if a very high standard. I shall go back to La Fontaine on my next SA visit without question.

The main house is a very attractive and well presented building. We were greeted on our arrival by the owner Kathie, who was very helpful and showed us to our suite. We had booked the Lemon Suite which was a self contained unit away from the main house in the gardens by the swimming pool. This suite was very comfortable and well appointed with a small kitchenette, lounge and separate sleeping area with en-suite facilities. The doors opened onto the garden and pool area which we found very relaxing and peaceful.

Checking in and out of this place was a breeze and we had our own keys to come and go as we pleased. Breakfast was served each morning outside and was a help your self affair of which their was plenty to choose from. This place is well worth the money, it is both conveniently & beautifully located, has very nice rooms and is run by genuinely very friendly and helpful people. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.
