"We just spent a restful night at the Herb Garden in Colesberg, run by the friendly and helpful husband and wife team of Marius and Marianne, and the friendliest dog in the Karroo called Cinnamon.

Upon our arrival, the evening sky was filled with thousands of roosting kestrels which seemed to silently welcome us to Colesberg. Marius, himself an avid pigeon racer, gave us fascinating insights into the habits of the kestrels.

Service was excellent and the room spotless, especially considering that we arrived on New Years Day.

Equipped with a TV (DSTV included) a fridge, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar etc. and a bathroom with a huge shower, toilet and basin, we were able to have a nice hot shower before getting into bed (which has an electric blanket as well) with a hot cup of coffee to just relax and watch some TV. A most pleasant experience and we'll definately stay at the Herb Garden again if we need accomodation in Colesburg. Highly recommended!!! "

"I can surely recommend staying at the Herb Garden Guest House in Colesberg. Not only is it half-way to where we were going and thus a good place to rest for the night, but it is also a place where you can really relax in comfort. We were warmly welcomed by Marius who promptly showed us to our spacious room, made sure we were comfortable and then switched on the DSTV channels so that hubby could watch some cricket on the television in our room. Everything was spotless, the amazing copper bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom pretty as a picture. Although it was really quite cold at the time we did not feel it as the room was nice and cozy with the bed being warm and inviting after a relaxing bath. There is also a well equipped kitchenette in the room and we were able to make our own coffee the next morning before Marius came around again to tell us he is ready to prepare our breakfast, which was very scrumptious indeed. We also briefly met Marianne and their lovely dog, Cinnamon. I am sure we will stop over at the Herb Garden again in future."

On arrival at 23h15 we were greeted immediately and taken to our room and a mattress and bedding was brought in for the little one. We were also informed that our beds had been warmed with electric blankets.
The room was very comfortable and the tea and coffee provided most welcome. We had a good night's rest.
The following morning we had a hearty breakfast and friendly chat with the owner before we set off on the next leg of our journey.
We view the Herb Garden as an oasis for weary travellers and will certainly use it again and recommend it."
