As it was summer, we definitely spend the afternoon at the pool, and braai the evening, with the backpackers providing everything you need in terms of wood, firelighters and braai grills...there is even a potjie, you just bring your meat. The bedrooms are clean, and have all you need, even towels. At the price we paid, this should definitely be the place to stay for everyone who is visiting Oudtshoorn. We left planning our next trip back to the backpackers to spend a few days of relaxation and rest. "

"We just returned from the trip of a lifetime to South Africa! While in Oudtshoorn we stayed at the Karoo Soul Backpackers. It was a wonderful experience. Our cottage was homey and nice, and the bed was particularly comfortable.

The best thing about the experience was how helpful and accommodating the members of the staff were. They stayed late for our delayed arrival, and they spent a lot of time with us helping us to plan our day in Oudtshoorn after it rained and we needed to make some changes. This included a book full of ideas of things to do in town, a map of the community, directions to an ATM, and lots of phone calls on our behalf. They also saved us a lot of money on our sightseeing by giving us vouchers for various activities in town."
