"We had a wonderful overnight stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly and even made me some coffee while I unpacking. The room was beautiful and oh my word we had a good time under that shower. (Ours at home have been broken for seven weeks). "

"1 night stay"

"A lovely place to take a break on a garden route tour. Cottages are not large but well kept, exceptionally clean and well fitted out. Experienced a warm welcome and good advice of what to do in Swellendam for the evening. Would definitely stay again."

"I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were super helpful and breakfast was very good. I also enjoyed safe, off the road parking and the room was neat and tidy. The swimming pool is a real asset for summer.

"Colleen and I like to get out of Cape Town on weekends, often making day trips to nearby towns to just go and explore and absorb their uniqueness. It is one of our ways of spending valuable time together while doing something we call “creating memories”. This last weekend was no exception except we decided instead of doing the mad early Saturday or Sunday morning rush to get where we were going, spend a few hours there and then drive back exhausted we would book an overnight stay in a local establishment.
We decided on Swellendam as we had heard about horse riding in the area and we love towns with history and beautiful scenery. After an online search with Rooms for Africa I decided on Roosje Van De Kaap because of the beautiful views particularly from the private balcony of their “Honeymoon Room” which we were fortunate enough to get a booking for, for Saturday night, with such late notice.
We took part in a trial run Saturday morning so I decided to phone ahead and let them know we would be there late afternoon. When we arrived we were greeted by Helpi who promptly showed us to our room and ran through some of the facilities which include an indoor fire place in the lounge and a beautiful little pool tucked away behind the dinning lounge/ restaurant. Before letting us settle in she noticed how hot and bothered we were from our trip on a day that had been hovering around the 36 degree mark and promptly offered us cold refreshments which was brought up to our room while we relaxed on the stunning king sized 4 post bed under the air conditioner.
We were left in total peace after that but Helpi reassured us that if we should need anything we should just let them know. We enjoyed our cold refreshments while watching a stunning sunset over the mountains from our private balcony. Later we made a booking for our horse riding adventure from a number we found in the guide book that Helpi provided us. It was excellently put together and was full of information about the history of Roosje Van Da Kaap aswell as Swellendam and all its attractions. I can only say that the person or persons who prepared their guide book did an excellent job.
After finding one of the local restaurants close by, once again pointed out by Helpi we enjoyed a unique dinner in this wonderful town. Later returning to Roosje Van Da Kaap for a brilliant nights rest on a very comfortable bed with the most wonderful fresh linen. Sunday morning we enjoyed one of the best full house breakfast that I have had in a long time which was included in our room’s fee. After breakfast we shot off for our horse riding adventure and had plenty time to enjoy before returning for a shower. Their well-placed booking out time of 12pm made it possible for us to enjoy our adventure without having to lug all our baggage with us and afforded us the opportunity to refresh before hitting the road back to Cape Town. It was with a sad heart that we left to return to our weekday’s life.
Our stay at Roosje Van De Kaap was fabulous and had it not been for Rooms for Africa with their informative online site I doubt we would have found what we were looking for. We will be making use of this service again.
Happy Regards
Leon and Colleen

"As an overnight stay en-route from Cape Town to Plettenberg Bay we found this establishment charming and well suited to the beautiful surroundings of the mountains and old buildings. The reception was warm and welcoming and we immediately felt at home. The evening meal was thoroughly enjoyed and breakfast was also well catered for. The room was comfortable. On departure we were greeted like old friends with wishes for a save journey. It is definitely a place for a stay over."
