"My wife and I recently booked a weekend getaway at Riverbend. We travel within South Africa as often as we can and love to take in the majestic offerings of this beautiful country. It was our first time at Riverbend and quite honestly I did not know what to expect. Just before our trip I started liaising with Werner, the owner of the cottages, and I can say that from the way he communicates I had a very good feeling that we would be well taken care of.

The area is tranquil and abundant in bird life. The grounds are extremely well maintained and the owner, together with his on-site staff, are ever-willing to go the extra mile to make your stay that much more pleasant.

Being city-slickers ourselves, we were quite surprised that the cottage did not have a TV and I guess that sums up the experience. We got lost in the beauty and peace that Riverbend has to offer. The cottages are spacious and have everything one would need to survive. It was built on eco-friendly principles and even though there is electricity, the stove and geyser run on gas.

The grounds are always well maintained and the lapa area is big enough to cater for at least 15 people and overlooks a lovely pool. The grounds also boast a sundeck which overlooks a small river; be sure to carry insect repellent. If you're looking to tuck into a good book or simply relax then the sundeck will offer the peace you are looking for.

Overall, I rate this as one of the better places I've stayed at and you can be guaranteed of excellent service. Thank you, Werner and team for a great experience."
