"Had a fantastic stay here! Staff and owner all went out of their way to make sure we were happy! They called personally to check we were okay, allowed us to change booking, serviced our room beautifully without moaning about messy kids, and were great with the kids. Outstanding service"

(Switzerland) Heinz Mostosi

"Pass through"

(Belgium) Jozef Van Der Wildt

"The picture on the web site does not cover it all, building is not new and electricity in the rooms is not to the normal standard, extension boxes are fitted to other extension boxes.

Although Wifi is indicated for the Guest House, it only works in the front part of the establishment."

The warm and friendly service made up for the cold and dreary weather. Breakfast was excellent! However, other guests were not as polite: Loud and noisy @ 6 o'clock in the morning! Perhaps more can be done to make guests aware of others. "

"Facilities here are adequate. Very quiet area. My stay was over all ok however the last night was very unpleasant due to other guests making noises in early hours. Secondly, I returned to the lodge in early hours on second day. This lodge had no security guard watching vehicles. If they did however he/she was sleeping as I waited +-30mins at the gate hooting etc, as I believed it to be locked. It was in fact left unlocked. Further reason to park/stay at own risk. Unless you plan to travel this lodge is not close to any major restaurants etc. Nearest is in Dundee. On the positive staff are very friendly and go extra mile. Thank you."

After selecting a room and a well deserved hot shower I headed to a dinner for one. The cat kept me company and I was very happy to receive a steak and salad - just what the doctor ordered after a week of take away.
After dinner a night cap was had at the bar while chatting to a couple of locals.
Beds comfortable and rooms clean.

The rooms are neat, fully equipped, but not too special. The manager however is the most dedicated person when it comes to make you enjoy your stay. She has provided us with a warm welcome and has been a great help in arranging accommodation for our next few days. The best about Lalalapha however is the food, it is absolutely fantastic, and we haven't had such tasty food ever since we continued out trip through South Africa. I can definitely recommend Lalalapha for your stay."

"Our young host was extremely helpful and gave us much advice and further recommendations for the ongoing part of our travels. It is a pleasure to see such a historic building being brought back into use and updated to serve the needs of today’s travellers without removing the feel of the period building that it is. Very well placed for travelling to the 'battlefield sites', a short journey to the local museum is also a 'must'. The bar is a very relaxed area with very attentive staff and we recommend that you engage the owner in conversation about her previous experience in the Cape Town hotel business if you want a TV free evening filled with laughter!"
