"Sidney was so incredibly accommodating when our departure from Joburg was delayed several hours by car trouble. He came back late to meet us and settlemus in to the MillerÕs hut, where we were welcomed by a fire, KitKats on the towels on the bed, and piles of blankets and duvets (obviously needed in the cooler months). The hut was perfect for two, with a microwave, electric frying pan, kettle (tea and I stand coffee provided). The kitchenette is short on implements, but IÕm sure theyÕre available on request. There are some lovely walks down to the Caledon River over a little swinging bridge. Highly recommended!"

"The lovely OLD MILL HOUSE"

We were treated to a tour of the old mill by Sidney who inspired us with his positive attitude and stories of his family involvement at the mill (too much to remember all of it) The road out to Ladybrand through cultivated farmlands was a fitting end to a lovely nights rest."

On arriving at the place, I was warmly welcomed by the owner. The location and condition of the lodge left me stunned. Beautifully maintained and hidden away through the farmlands.

The room was basic, but equipped with everything that i needed. Fridge, microwave, small kitchen area and even a tiny fire place.

Due to the remoteness, i wouldn't stay for more than 1 night as there's not much to do. No signal there as well.

Definitely a place i'd recommend for an overnight stay. Ideal for a couple looking to get away from civilization and spend some quality time :) "

"At first when driving there, was skeptical as it's remote, but once we got there, was totally blown away, more to the surprise of my partner who didn't know, we were there for her birthday, since I kept everything a surprise. The welcoming by the owner, the setting, ambiance, just the mood was phenomenal, nature and the fact that everything was kept as is, so it felt like we were back in the 1800's, especially after the care taker Mr. Tladi operates the mill, what a mind blowing experience, we really felt that we on a river mill farm. My partner can't stop talking about the place, well I can't too and everyone who sees our pics, wants to go there, so expect us soon."

"It was worth the 5.5-hour drive. Thanks for the pap each morning that awaited us, and the lovely atmosphere. Rising at five as per normal was not an option - the snooze was needed until eight at least. Heaven on earth. Namaste!"

"Nice and cosy, and a very interesting historical sight. Using the 'nommer asseblief' wind-up telephone was very cool. My kids never knew that kind of phone existed. "Nice and cosy, and a very interesting historical sight. Using the 'nommer asseblief' wind-up telephone was very cool. My kids never knew that kind of phone existed. It would have been nice if we were told that the 16 km out of hobhouse is dirt road. Also that everything, including the petrol station, closes at 1 pm on Saturdays and that nothing is open on Sundays. Make sure your car has enough petrol and take your own food! Was a bit dissapointed that the river that flows below the mill has silted up. But James, the guide, was fantastic with his knowledge of how the mill used to work. He also walked us through the forest to the banks of the Caledon River which was spectacular in the morning light. Well worth the drive. Thank you for a wonderful experience."
