Farm Style Self-Catering Cottages situated in the picturesque Hermitage Valley just 2km’s outside Swellendam, at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains. This area is well known for its spectacular views, tranquillity, abundant outdoor activities and pretty Berry Farms.

The Zaayman Family would love for you to share a little piece of our heaven and stay a while in one of the 4 self-catering cottages on the farm. All our cottages are very comfortably furnished with all the necessities. You will be glad to know each cottage comes with an essential braai area and full free WiFi. We furthermore appreciate the importance of a good night’s rest and therefore all beds are equipped with pocket spring mattresses for your sleeping pleasure. We have a salt water swimming pool to cool off in and a kolkol wood-fired hot tub for hire!

There's much to see and do in and around Swellendam. We really have it all: horse trailing, sunset boat cruises on Buffeljagsdam, mountain biking routes, hiking in Marloth Nature Reserve, game viewing in the Bontebok National Park, in-season (November - December) berry picking, some of the best restaurants South Africa has to offer and much more.

Establishment facilities include:
*Outdoor braai (all cottages).
*Indoor fireplace (Rose & River & Guinea Fowl).
*Free Wi-Fi (all cottages).
*TV, bring your own DSTV viewer card (Rose, Guinea Fowl and Aardvarks Burrow).
*Pet friendly (all cottages).
*Fully equipped kitchenette (all).
*Indoor heating (all).
*Bathroom with shower & toilet (all).

Please note:
*** Minimum 2 nights stay required during school and public holidays.
***If you are arriving during business hours (Monday -Friday: 08h00-17h00). Please come into the Main House / Reception (sign-posted) and we can provide you with a firm handshake, the key and some general advice on your stay. If you plan to arrive after business hours, please let us know preferably in advance
*** Camping cot can be provided.
*** Hermitage Huisies have many animals including dogs, horses, geese, chickens and bees. We also have a dam. So please take care and note that you enter our property at own . A small extra cost will be charged for pets. Please just note that these cottages are not enclosed and we do hold horses so only very well behaved dogs might apply.

"Hermitage Huisies - a private, peaceful retreat in a green valley known for its berry farms. We had River Cottage which is a bit away from other cottages. Great mountain views from the main bedroom, excellently equipped and with a great guide book(file). We loved the braai area outside with table and benches in lovely shade and a hedge around it for privacy. Horses nearby make for a picturesque setting as you watch young riders arrive in the morning to groom the horses. Things to do: We walked 100 metres through a style in the fence and got to the wonderful Wildebraam Berry Farm next door - AMAZING liqueur tasting of 12 great liqueurs for free. Also walked 2km into Swellendam for a fantastic meal of game and great wine at Koornlands Restaurant on the main road, then caught a R60 taxi back to Hermitage Huisies at night. "

"What a wonderful place. We stayed overnight and the owner, Nadia Zaayman went out of her way to make us welcome and comfortable.

Guinea Fowl is well appointed and great value for the money. There is plenty of evidence that much thought has been given to making the cottage as comfortable as possible. The attention to detail is apparent and greatly appreciated.

We wholeheartedly recommend Hermitage Huisies if one is after a peaceful and quiet place to just get away from it all. We would certainly stay here again."
