"We choose Bergsig because we wanted a two bedroom chalet not too far from Johannesburg for three adults. From the moment we arrived it was sheer perfection. Each bedroom in our chalet had an en-suite bathroom which included a shower with an outside door leading to an enclosed garden.
The chalet also had its own patio and braai area (with its own light) as well as sharing an entertainment area with an adjacent - but reasonably far away - chalet, which consisted of a swimming pool, an enclosed upstairs lounge, extended braai facilities and an upstairs balcony with a great view.
A highlight was when four donkeys traipsed past our patio. Bergsig offers the best of sophisticated amenities within a bush setting although there is more rudimentary accommodation -as in no electricity but gas facilities - at its bush huts.
It does not boast the big 5 but we went on a game drive - at a reasonable cost of R75 each - and saw zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, buck and kudu. The area features excellent, high wooden lookout structures.
Bergsig is well deserving of its AA four star self catering rating.
I cannot wait to go back for another serene holiday.

No one will like to sleep early in such a beautiful place.
Even the people, from reception until we left, they were happy to assist us and welcoming and smiling at all times.
