We came from Middelburg, which is under 2 hours away from Caracal. Jan took us on a 4X4 drive to take a view of the farm and the surrounding areas, he was very professional and knowledgeable. We also explored the caves on the farm, which was a lot of fun. Jerry the giraffe walked with us to the waterfall where we had a lovely time cooling off under the waterfall. We would like to thank Donald for everything. It was really lovely and Caracal would see us again soon."

"We spent two nights at Caracal Lodge in early August and absolutely loved our stay. We were in Figtree lodge, which is built around old ruins with a fabulous strangler fig at the entrance. Two beds were added for our children to stay as well and we still had ample room. The lodge itself is spacious ..."

"We spent two nights at Caracal Lodge in early August and absolutely loved our stay. We were in Figtree lodge, which is built around old ruins with a fabulous strangler fig at the entrance. Two beds were added for our children to stay as well and we still had ample room. The lodge itself is spacious and was lovely and clean. There is no electricity, so heating is via a log fire and there are gas amenities, stove, fridge and lighting. Outside is spacious with a boma and hammock, which was a hit with our children. We went on three walks at the property and for us being able to just start a walk from our lodge was wonderful...the walks are all well marked and would suit most people. The cave walk was a favourite and our 9 & 10 year old were able to descend as well. The highlight was definitely Gerry the beautiful resident giraffe. He came to visit our lodge on a number of occasions and I think we all fell in love with him. You should probably heed Donald's advice and not let Gerry follow you on a walk.... He followed us on our cave walk, and he can be quite intimidating because of his sheer size, however he is a gentle giant and despite our running paced walk, it was still the highlight! If you are looking for a peaceful getaway and some gentle bush walking in nature, this place is perfect."
