Marloth Bush Retreat is a tranquil, comfortable, self-catering thatched hide-away, situated on the southern border of the Kruger National Park. A wide variety of game and about 300 bird species are found around the Retreat in untamed Bushveld vegetation. The close-up interaction with Africa’s animals is truly thrilling. In the evening, lesser bush-babies come within 2 meters of guests. African night sounds of lion roaring, hippo grunting and hyena calling, are part of the bush experience. Most days’ elephant can be seen feeding in the Crocodile River. Often lion wait here too, watching for prey animals coming down to drink. Leopards are seen from time to time.

This is a bird-watcher’s paradise and species such as Eastern nicator, yellow-billed, red-billed, grey and crowned hornbills occur. From purple-crested turaco, bearded wood-pecker to blue waxbill, all abound here. The iconic sound of an African fish-eagle’s call calms even the most stressed soul. The guest-house accommodates 8 people comfortably in 4 double bedrooms, which are all en-suite. Linen and towels are supplied. Please bring your own swimming towels. Two cosy little lounges and wildlife magazines enhance your retreat into the bush.

Ceiling fans are installed throughout. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, microwave oven, double-door fridge-freezer, and all other necessities. On the patio there is a built in braai/barbecue. And should you prefer not to cook there are several restaurants and pubs close by. A splash-pool adjoining the entertainment area is a wonderful way of cooling down on a hot summer’s afternoon. Relax in the hides watching wildlife.

"What an awesome experience. The feeling of being in the bush - so close to the trees you can't help but feel you are in the middle of it.

The animals that came and had a look see at the humans! We were the zoo! The Monitor Lizard and different things to see, the Bush Babies, each day we looked for something different and found it The only drawback was the heat but that is nature. I recommend it - miss it already. Thank you Genie - as my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter so aptly put it - magical."

"Thank you for letting us stay at your place. We all had a wonderful time.
We had guests from the UK as well as from Australia with us and they will have many stories and memories to take back home with them. Our highlight was the pair of Warthogs that came to visit us each morning. The accommodation was very comfortable. It was a pity that the dish washer wasn't working and the ant problem in the end bedroom but overall we enjoyed our stay. May I suggest you have a file or booklet for guests to see what Marloth Park is all about and its history and maybe some places of interest or to visit in the surrounding areas of Kruger. A map of Marloth Park would also be handy for guests who have never been to Marloth so they can find their way around to the shops, Look out point, club house etc.
