"We had a lovely short stay. Lovely fire and electric under blankets. I would like to say that the road is ONLY for 4x4 and this should be mentioned before the 'payment' section."

"Beautiful Surroundings"

(South Africa) Eddie von Bargen | 6 January 2016

"Lovely area, saw crowned cranes on the way here. Set in a valley between the lower Drakensberg mountains on a farm. Facilities are very nice, verging on the opulent. Two problems, flies outside and inside bugging you continuously, and a shower that is boiling hot or ice cold, no in between. Pity. more

"We had a very pleasant stay at Woodcliffe Country house, Lauren and Ryan were very charming and we were sad that we couldn't stay longer as we were in transit to Kruger national Park.

"Such a special place!"

(South Africa) Brett Ervine | 11 May 2014

"Woodcliffe was just perfect. We loved our stay there and thought it was a real gem. The house was clean, comfy beds and the view amazing. Thank you!"

"Great find"

(South Africa) Marleen Curtis | 15 January 2014

"We loved the few days we spent at Woodcliffe Cottage. The scenery is breathtaking, the cycling amazing, the fishing fantastic. Definitively one of our best finds to date."

"Woodcliffe Cottage"

(South Africa) Rene Murray | 27 December 2013

"Amazing scenery - the cottage is set away from the main farmstead and has beautiful views of the mountains. The cottage is not plush, but has all the necessities. A definite destination for nature lovers."

"Relaxing"

(South Africa) Jurgen Wedekind | 23 April 2012

"A most relaxing stayover in a very beautiful, serene scenery. The cottage has all the comforts one expects from an AA rated venue. The welcome by Phil was very friendly, one feels you are welcomed into a family."

"Confusion!"

(South Africa) Anel | 13 July 2017

"The Woodcliffe Country House is 5 star, but the cottage we stayed in was far from 5 stars. It was more suitable for backpackers! We had everything we need but in a hole the cottage was rundown. However the surroundings was breathtaking!"

"Tranquil & Scenic"

(South Africa) Robbie | 10 May 2017

"We spent 5 nights at Woodcliffe. What an enjoyable working farm experience. We were left alone to relax and go out and enjoy nature. We will be back. Thanks Ryan & Lauren."

"Woodcliffe County House is situated on a farm in the Maclear, Eastern Cape. The house provides simply stunning views as the actual house is nestled in between the mountains. The house is quite basic, and does provide minimum amenities; however there is so much unlocked potential and a few items management should look to amend in the near future:
The House:
- In need of a minor refurb. It looks old and it shows.
- The shower doors are in need of repair or replacement
- Perhaps an additional bathroom would be great. 1 bathroom for a 6 sleeper is not ideal.
- General maintenance and cleanliness of the house is required.

From an activity point of view, the trails available are brilliant with different terrains and numerous streams. As we were not bird watching nor fly fishing enthusiasts, upon doing a few trails and inclement weather, additional activities available would have been great. Luckily we fashioned a cricket set out of old branches and that kept us thoroughly entertained.

A few suggestions regarding attractions:
- Perhaps offer a quad biking or dirt bike experience
- Archery
- Route markers and maps need to be re-looked at. They were not that lousy.

"My partner and me required a weekend of relaxation..This is exactly what we got with beautiful surroundings, peaceful and serene.
The establishment where we stayed was neat and clean, however for self-catering we would have liked to have a working cooking area and not have to use the main house's kitchen where other people were staying.
The Garden Flat had a microwave but no bowls, cooking utensils were available.
I feel we could have been informed prior to travelling 400kms that the Garden Flats cooking area was not in working order. Would have preferred a double bed instead of two single beds.
However we had a lovely stay and would definately go there again.

Dear Cyrilene
Thank you for this report regarding our establishment. I did phone the client . Pieter Marais, before he came to tell him about the flat kitchen.
He assured me that he had prepared a curry that would only need to be heated in the microwave.
We are waiting for the electrician to come and connect up the hob. This is a brand new flat and the attached photos verify the standard of the room.
Had the guest requested a double bed we could have perhaps made a plan , this was never brought to my attantion in the booking phase through ResAfrica .
I trust that this settles the matters raised.
Thank you for making contact with us.
