Set on one of the biggest working ostrich farms in Southern Africa, only a 10 minutes’ drive from Oudtshoorn centre, this pet-friendly AfriCamps location is one to experience. Our 12 boutique glamping tents are positioned around a dam visited by various game like zebra, kudu and elands. *Please note that Oudtshoorn is currently experiencing a drought. Although there is ample water for your use, the dam levels may fluctuate due to this extreme drought which can have an influence on the number of game sightings at the dam. For ostrich sightings and a full ostrich tour, please remember to book the farm tour as they are found in a separate section of the farm.

Our self-catering boutique glamping tents, proudly handcrafted in South Africa, are fully equipped and come with all the convenience of a self-catering apartment. Step onto your private wooden deck that overlooks the peaceful natural surroundings of a working farm or beautiful estate. With comfortable wooden loungers ready for you to sit back and unwind on.

You can leave all your traditional camping gear at home, because AfriCamps tents come fully furnished and are supplied with fresh bedding and towels. The tents are big enough to comfortably house a family of 5 and equipped with a wooden floor that runs throughout the whole tent.

Each tent is layered with various colourful accessories to add to the full boutique camping experience. The tent consists of a spacious open plan lounge area with a wooden couch and a fully equipped kitchen, which will allow you to create all those glamping recipes that you can find online. So grab a bottle of the local boutique wine and throw a dinner party in the tent. The dining room area has a beautiful solid wooden table with enough seating for 5 people.

For winter months the wood stove is the perfect way to warm the space, bringing in an intimate setting for you and your love ones to enjoy a good glass of red wine. Leading off from the living room both bedrooms have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy.

Each tent consists of two bright bedrooms, with natural sunlight flowing through the windows in the day lighting up the comfortable queen size beds. One of the bedrooms even contains an extra single bunk bed. With ample cupboard space you can unpack for your stay and move in without hassle. In addition the bedrooms are supplied with an air conditioning unit to keep you cool during those hot summer nights. Developed off the traditional ensuite bathroom, you will find that both bedrooms have their own entrance into a private bathroom area. This area contains a hot shower cabin, wash basin and flushing toilet.

Warmer days will be the perfect occasion to pull up the front covers and transform the tent into an outdoor living area. Here you can appreciate a glass of wine or a festive family breakfast while enjoying the beautiful weather and taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

These tents have 2 bedrooms with an ensuite bathroom, veranda, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge area, dining area. Each tent sleeps 5 people with wooden floors. Tents are supplied with lights and electricity, air-conditioning, a wood burning stove and braai facilities. Tent size: 36 m2.

Tent Specifics:
Main Bedroom with a queen-size bed (XL length 2 metres). 2nd bedroom with a queen-size bed (XL length 2 metres) and single bunk bed (XL length 2 metres). There is sufficient bedroom storage space and an nsuite bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin. The lounge area has a comfortable couch and side table. The dining area has dining table and 5 chairs, and the wooden veranda has 2 lounge chairs and a picnic table.

Kitchen Specifics:
Kitchen utilities for 5 persons (plates, cutlery, glasses, cups, pots, pans etc) as well as a 4 hob kitchen stove, fridge / freezer, microwave, coffee press, kettle and a toaster.

Tent Extras:
* Bed linen, towels, a dish cloth, fleece blankets, coffee / tea facilities, sugar, powder milk, dishwashing liquid, and hand soap.
* There is a cleaning service every 4th day (including new towels and bed linen).
* Baby Cot (on request, subject to availability).

"I’m not really into camping which is why we chose to stay at Africamps, it’s camping with all the luxuries of home. A must mention is as soon as we drove in, there were waterbuck laying under the winter sun, what a beautiful sight! That got us all excited about the rest of the place. It looked as if the waterbucks were paid to welcome guests there! The kids loved the play area and the freedom of being able to run free as we were instructed to let them be by Esti, felt so welcome by her kindness. The kids wanted to literally make Africamps their home. The tent itself is so well kept and modern. It’s the middle of winter but when the “tent” is closed up and with the indoor fire place going it is so warm and cozy you don’t even feel the winter chill. It’s a truly beautiful place inside and out. We will definitely be going back for a longer stay. Hopefully there’s a lot of rain soon and the dam fills up so we can enjoy the place to it’s fullest. We personally think that we could not have chosen a better place to stay in Oudtshoorn as the camp is a mere 500meters from the Cango Wildlife Ranch and a 20km drive to the caves. Definitely a place worth spending time at. "

"Spent 2 nights in tent #1. It was beautiful the service was amazing! And the views are beautiful. The fire place inside the tents makes it really warm and cosy for cold winter nights. The bathroom is great and shower is super fun! We had an amazing dinner at 'The black swan' restaurant down the road..."
