There was no cover over the deck in case of bad weather and our rooms weren't ready for over an hour and we wanted to relax after travelling. I did not like the fact that the lounge and dining room are part of the family home."

" A lovely ranch-style house in a beautiful river-side setting with friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Located around 20 mins drive from Addo Elephant Park, Fish Eagles Lodge is a super spot in which to relax and take in the African experience. We enjoyed 2 delicious evening meals with our hosts (with dinner and wine being provided at very reasonable costs), plus excellent breakfasts, and our children had great fun. The comfortable bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms are stylishly furnished, and lead directly out onto the deck providing a practical and private environment. We had a great time. Don't miss sitting on the floating pontoon over the river - very special!"

"We have just spent a weekend at Fish Eagle's Lodge. Wonderful hospitality, with good meals, we had dinner one night, which Sue cooked for us and was excellent.

The deck overlooking the river is wonderful, the bird watching great, we were lucky to see the Fish Eagle twice and the Goliath Herons. The river was in flood which gave the opportunity of having to wade out to the Pontoon, which was great fun.

I think this is truly a wonderful value for money lodge, and would happily go again. "

Sue and Steve were excellent, friendly and helpful hosts, full of good advice, arranging trips and visits for us, and making restaurant reservations also. We had two evening meals of outstanding value (including an absolutely amazing braai!) at the Lodge. Breakfasts were also outstanding with very good choice of quality food and juice, teas, jams etc. Being with Sue and Steve was just like being with family friends, wonderful hosts.
Overall, a great experience, even though we did not see a Fish Eagle."

The superbly kept putting green in front of the lodge sets it off a treat and the location is beautiful. True to its name we saw a fish eagle on both days of our stay. Our home cooked evening meal was excellent and was enjoyed with our hosts which provided a homely ambiance.
Accommodation was comfortable and peaceful. The recommended all in day trip, to Addo and Scotia reserves was an amazing experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & will recommend Fish Eagle Lodge & RoomsForAfrica to our friends. "

"We stayed here as a base for our visit to the Addo National Elephant Park and the Scotia Game Reserve. Sue, Steve and family are great hosts. The food and accommodation is excellent. It is a tranquil location, with very comfortable rooms and the Fish Eagles soaring overhead at breakfast were magnificent. They were very helpful in advising and planning, then arranged all our trips which went without a hitch (we recommend the combined day trip to Addo & Scotia) and even provided a picnic breakfast for our sunrise trip to Addo. This is also a child friendly house as we were travelling with our two teenage children. Directions provided are accurate. We would certainly return given the opportunity. We are sure you will not be disappointed if you stay there. Enjoy it, it’s excellent."

"The location of Fish Eagles Lodge is superb. Access to the Lodge from the main road is a short distance along a dirt road which might be difficult in really wet weather, but was no problem at all when we visited it. We were met by our charming hostess and shown to our comfortable room with en suite bathroom. Our room led onto a terrace overlooking the Sundays River with masses of birdlife, including the fish eagle(s). On our first evening, dinner took the form of a braai on the terrace and on the next two nights we were served an excellent two-course dinner with our hostess, who is a superb cook, and her husband in the dining room. Breakfasts were equally good. I would recommend this place to anyone! "
