Misty Valley Lodge is an incredible resort outside the town of Machadodorp, far enough away from everywhere that the noise of everyday life is unable to penetrate into this area.

The main lodge and the new conference center sits slightly back from the chalets with the whole resort overlooking the deep valleys beyond. Behind the main buildings is a beautiful Highlands grass plateau with wild game and sweeping vistas. The restaurant has its own ambience with the style of European nobility where the chef is hard pressed to match the food to the locale but the “piece de resistance” is the well stocked wine cellar and bar with its enormous fireplace and crackling fire during cold weather.

The general atmosphere inside the main lodge is muted but exudes comfort and elegance as the attentive staff replenishes your wine glass or provide you with a cup of steaming coffee.

Misty Valley Lodge prides itself on being a family friendly resort with family suites available and a daily children’s activity programme to keep the kids entertained while mom and dad have a chance to relax and soak up the Highland atmosphere. This is a place where the whole family can visit and there is literally, something for everyone to do.

"It’s not a pleasant place to stay. The facilities and the rest of the accommodation looks very run down. A lot of work needs to be done. However, the staff running the place was friendly and the atmosphere was great."
