"The warm and friendly welcome we received was very nice. All our request were met. We are coming again for Christmas in July.
Just need a place with en suite."

"The accommodation was clean and sufficiently furnished. We did not like having to share a bathroom with our downstairs neighbours.
We felt that the place had great potential but the staff needed guidance.
The best meal of our trip was served there. Karoo lamb par excellence. "

Restaurant has the best menu from the three restaurants, however still new, has no liquor license yet, will have it soon though. Best stopover on our way back home from Cape Town. This place fits the Nieu Bethesda charm. Slept in priori rooms, had to share a bathroom, and this did not detract from the experience. Huge breakfast, best value for money!! We will be back. The tower is my new favourite place. Thanx to The Tower staff!!!"

"Staying at the Bethesda Tower was a pleasure! Humble and authentic, we were taken care of by lovely, friendly and welcoming staff who ensured all our needs were met. We stayed on the second floor of the tower which was clean, neat and had everything we needed including a fan, a heater and multiple two-pin plugs. Upon arrival, the staff showed us around and told us some interesting facts about the town of Nieu-Bethesda. The restaurant at the Bethesda Tower was absolutely delicious. The staff happily catered to our special request by making us a vegetarian curry which was not on the menu but was extremely tasty. I would highly recommend staying at the Bethesda Tower for a wonderful, authentic Nieu-Bethesda experience. "

You have to go outside and walk down the external staircase to get to the bathroom which is not ideal.
There are no facilities to make coffee in the rooms which I really missed.
The staff were very friendly, I had to ask for some blankets since there was a very thin duvet only and the electric blanket was not working. A heater kept the room warm though.
Everything was clean and neat and we had a good breakfast the next morning made at 7:30 for us.

"We spent a night at the priory rooms in early July. My husband and I had the room upstairs and our 2 sons had the downstairs room. The bathroom was on the ground level and was shared by both rooms. Both rooms were heated and had comfortable beds. Even though it was winter, we did not feel the cold and spent a comfortable night in the rooms. Towels were supplied and the bathroom was adequate for our needs. We were made aware from the start that the bathroom was not en suite and so were comfortable with that. The environment was lovely, with a small balcony on the upstairs room with table and chairs, a little room was available for making tea and coffee (which was supplied) and also contained a small fridge. The art centre is clean, peaceful and an absolute haven for tired travellers. It is very central and we were able to walk everywhere from the centre. We were very happy with the accommodation. The morning breakfast was outstanding and we left feeling rested and happy."

"On our arrival the staff gave us a friendly welcome and the tower exceeded or wildest imagination. We originally booked into the top bedroom of the tower with the round bed but was afraid of the stairs so changed to a room in the priory. How disappointed we were to find that the stairs were not an issue and the room was taken by someone else. The staff were very accommodating and, seeing our disappointment, changed our room to the upstairs in the priory. The rooms were exceptionally clean compared to other accommodation that our friends were staying in. The breakfast was really good and we loved the freshness of the food. Again I was unable to eat egg and the staff were quick to give me an alternative. Should I pass through that way again, my first choice would be the Bethesda Tower Accommodation and would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends. A big thank you to the staff of Bethesda Tower Accommodation. You made our stay memorable one."

"Our recent stay at the Bethesda Tower Accommodation was a magical experience. Staying in a fairy tale-ques tower with a magnificent view of the quaint Karoo town of Nieu Bethesda was a wonderful way to experience the town. Walking up its spiraling staircase draped in the curling tendrils of grape vines it's hard not to invite the nostalgic comparison of a Disney Castle. After a night in one of the towers clean, comfortable and cosy rooms and sleeping in a massive round bed, the friendly staff serve a delicious breakfast in a dining room bathed in coloured rafts of light from stained glass windows. The perfect way to start a day exploring the gorgeous surrounds."

Everybody greeted us with a friendly smile and we arrived in Bethesda Tower accommodation, Martin welcomed us with that same smile. The room in the second floor of the tower is something we had never experienced: a BIG round bed, almost the size of the room, very comfortable. Unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone!

The staff was so kind to prepare a lovely meal for us and we sat outside in the courtyard, in candlelight, like royalty. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the shower room more than efficient. As far as I can tell, the tower is run by an association to help the local community, which also means anyone staying here will be giving back to the local people. There is a lovely arts and crafts workshop and restaurant. The parking is safe and secure. Breakfast, was again, lovely with everyone making sure that we had more than enough to eat and helping us on our way. We wish the Bethesda Tower nothing but the best for the future and hope that we will see them again soon!"

"If you want to experience the Karoo as it is without the frills and tourist touches, the Bethesda Tower is the place to stay! Having stayed in the top room of the tower we did struggle with our luggage and camping fridge up the stairs but it was definitely worth it. We could see the steeple of the church from our window and all the preparations for the New Years Festival happening below. The room doesn't have a bathroom and unfortunately you have to go downstairs to shower and use the loo. This is very basic, rustic accommodation but in my opinion, it's the right way to experience the Karoo! It is clean, neat and well-maintained and a little stair-climbing never hurt anyone!"

To get to the bathroom I had to go down the stairs on the outside of the tower - which, I guess could be pretty chilly in the rainy season. Bring a raincoat. I absolutely loved my stay in Nieu Bathesda - and was very happy in my room. The art centre has a wonderful little restaurant that makes a Karoo lamb curry to die for. Would I come back? Absolutely, at the very next opportunity. I LOVED it."

"Lekker Bethesta"

(South Africa) anonymous | 23 September 2010

"The accommodation was neat and clean and the beds slept well. We found the steps a bit of a hassle and the bathrooms outside the building and down the stairs not very nice at night. We would absolutely hate to have to do it in winter! We loved the bub around the corner and the 'train ride' up the Lo..."

"We were very, very pleased to have managed at the last minute to stay at the ‘fairy tale’ tower and it lived up to our expectations and beyond! If you want to experience the real atmosphere in Nieu Bethesda - this is the place to stay!

"We have booked with Tower Accommodation for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. It has been the most special birthday ever, the staff were all so happy and friendly and very professional in a comfortable manner.

The top room with the round bed is an absolute homely comfort; we loved the roof and the windows. What an experience to lie in your bed and watch the starts! All the food we had was of the very best standard and I will rate them 10 out of 10 for that lamb, and the “death by chocolate cake” I had on my birthday morning, is to die for.

I burst out in laughter when I entered the little fairy shower in the little fairy tower, no other words than absolute cute. Thank you so much for an excellent service and such a beautiful cultural place to stay in, we really enjoyed ourselves and it was very difficult to leave Nieu Bethesda after such a perfect weekend. We love the Karoo!

"Interesting and friendly town."

(South Africa) Mrs Burger | 19 July 2009

"We found Nieu-Bethesda interesting, cold but very friendly ! The Tower was nice and warm with more than enough heaters and warm blankets. Going through the restaurant kitchen, with people preparing breakfast, to get to your bathroom, was very inconvenient !! With no en-suite bathroom in the cold and..."

Going through the restaurant kitchen, with people preparing breakfast, to get to your bathroom, was very inconvenient !! With no en-suite bathroom in the cold and in the Toproom, was no joke. With such friendly people in the kitchen, we enjoyed our stay. "
