"Real country luxury and relaxation - excellent service and food"

"We had a wonderful time at Hopefield Country House and Guest Farm. Kobus and Gerhart are most attentive hosts with great senses of humour. The food is delicious and we cannot see why anyone would choose to go elsewhere for dinner when you can have Gerhart as your chef, the choice of great wines and soothing classical music playing in the background. On our first night we even had the delight of our two hosts playing Brahms duets on two grand pianos.

The rooms were very comfortable and airy with good bathrooms. The gardens were most attractive too and it was such a shame that the weather was not that good for lying around by the pool.

We would thoroughly recommend this guest house as the place to stay at a very reasonable price when visiting Addo and or Port Elizabeth,

The two charming house-owners also serve dinner on request, the kitchen is 5-stars, even for european tastes!

Just to feel well all around!"

We would love to come again.

The beauty of the garden and farm makes you want to relax and read there for a weekend. The warmth of the welcome from the two hosts immediately makes you feel you are at home. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spotless, cool and peaceful. The sitting and dining area are full of interesting art work and photography. The music and chat with the hosts is delightful. The meals superb.

I cannot think of a better place to spend a long relaxing weekend."

"We had a wonderful time at the Hopefield Country House which is in a lovely garden setting with a pool, old pepper tree and a rose garden. Our rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. The old farm house has been renovated and is welcoming. Wonderful classical music plays and enhances the relaxing atmosphere. Our hosts are musicians and we enjoyed their musical, as well as culinary, talents. The food was wonderful, the breakfasts plentiful, and the tips for visiting the Addo Elephant Park were very helpful. The guest house is located within easy distance of the park. Altogether a very happy time. We will certainly book at Hopefield again should we be visiting South Africa.

"I selected Hopefield after much searching - what a find! We arrived after a blistering hot day in Addo where we were well rewarded with so many fantastic sightings of these wonderful creatures. The welcome was warm but not over the top - two delightful schnauzers Horatio and Ophelia extended their welcome. The bedrooms comfortable - well furnished if maybe a little dated for our taste - feather pillows would be a nice touch. Iced water last thing at night especially in the hot weather definitely preferable to warm water! Lovely gardens which are well maintained in a delightfully peaceful setting. Dinner was superb - well presented and the content good. Delightful hosts."
